Leisure Accidents
Accidents can happen in many different situations during your free time.
The right to compensation for accidents outside of work usually depends on leisure accident insurance, which is often included as part of family insurance policies offered by insurance companies.
In some cases, employees are also covered by collective-agreement accident insurance for accidents that occur during leisure time, depending on the terms of their employment contract. In addition, general accident insurance, if in place, can cover both work-related and non-work-related injuries. If a leisure accident occurs due to another person's negligence, the injured party may also have a right to compensation under that person's liability insurance.
Insurance companies offer various family insurance packages, many of which include leisure accident coverage — for example, compensating cyclists for injuries sustained during recreational activities.
